  • What Do You Do To My Car During A Service?
When you drop your vehicle in, we will do a thorough 62 point safety check and generate a report based on your vehicle's specific requirements. If we believe that there are repairs that need to be done urgently, we will contact you with a quote and to discuss our concerns. De Jonge Mechanical will never rip you off and will only present legitimate problems which need to be addressed. If you want the extra maintenance items carried out, we will do so. If you don't wish to go ahead with any other repairs, we will complete a thorough service and the issues we have raised will be mentioned on your invoice under the "faults" section. When you are ready to repair these faults, just give us a call.
What Happens When You Get My Car Apart & Find More Problems Than Expected?
We will always keep you informed with any progress reports and receive confirmation from you before any further works are carried out that are not previously approved.
What Oils & Fluids Do You Use & Why ?
We proudly use & recommend Penrite fluids. Penrite make a Better Class of Oil. Their premium engine oils always go the Extra 10 above the industry benchmark. So if the industry recommends a 10W-30 for example, Penrite make a 10W-40.
I Think There Is a Problem With My Car, How Do I Explain It To You?
Even though you may be experienced & knowledgeable about automotives, we would rather that you describe the symptoms rather than the cause. Describe your issue in this way: "My car does this when I do this and the conditions it happens in is are under these". If you have technical insight, then at this point you can say, "I think it's caused by this, for this reason. Although you have the best intentions, we prefer you don't use car jargon, or self-diagnose the problem.
Are There Things That I Should Leave With You Whilst My Car Is Getting Serviced or Repaired?
Yes. Please leave your service log book, alarm remote, mag wheel lock nut, master key (not a valet key) and the secret kill switch locations. If we can't remove the wheels or start the car easily, it will stop us from working on your vehicle, or at least slow us down. We may need to get into the boot to change your brake light bulbs. Most Toyota ECUs are behind the glove box, so if the glove box is locked, and we only have the valet key, we'll have a problem getting access to the ECU. If you're worried about leaving valuables or other personal items in your glove box, then please leave them at home before the service.
I Want My Car Serviced Or Repaired Fast - Is That OK ?
If there is a legitimate reason why you need your car serviced or repaired quickly, then depending on the needs of your car, we can work to a time frame. I guess the big question is though: would you rush a surgeon? We are not suggesting that we are surgeons, but as with surgeons, we are working on a body (car body!), so when we have enough time to complete the job without tight time pressures, it will increase the quality of the job. We understand that you will occasionally have time pressures, but wherever possible, please allow enough time for the repairs your vehicle requires.
How Much Fuel Should I Have In The Tank When I Bring My Car In?
At least 1/2 of a tank. There is no point paying us by the hour to fill the tank so we can work on your car. It's cheaper if you bring it in with sufficient fuel in the tank.
I Bought My Car In For A Service & Now There Seems To Be Another Mechanical Problem, Did You Cause It?
Although this is extremely rare, it can sometimes happen. Mechanics are only human and we do make mistakes. If you feel we are at fault, please explain the situation calmly to us. If we have caused a problem, we are only too happy to fix it.
I'll Be There In 5 Minutes! Can you Wait for Me? I am Just Around The Corner!
We definitely won 't leave you stranded without your vehicle but please understand we have just worked a 10 hour day and have wives, kids and families to go home to. Please try to make arrangements that allow you to comfortably arrive before closing.
My Car Is Broken & I Need It Fixed ASAP! Can You Help?
Yes, of course we will endeavour to try and help you out!! Depending on the diagnostic problem with your vehicle, we may need to put you on 1CStandby 1D as our customers with appointments are our first priority & sometimes standby cars are not repaired the same day. If we need to hold onto your car for the following day, it will be securely locked up in our workshop overnight.
How Much Do You Charge For A Service?
We have found by giving a 1Cquick quote 1D can quite often be inaccurate as it is unlikely that it will address all of your vehicle 19s particular needs & may cover things that your vehicle doesn't 19t require. This potentially can waste your time and money. Every vehicle has different service requirements so De Jonge Mechanical Repairs feel it is more beneficial to the customer that we do a vehicle inspection to find out what the vehicle actually needs doing to it. We would rather spend the time to custom tailor a quote / service for your individual vehicle that is based on the manufacturer 19s maintenance schedule, your vehicles past service history and our own experience with your model of vehicle to ensure that your vehicle gets all the service and care it needs.
Your Quote Is Different Than Other Service Centres, Why?
De Jonge Mechanical Repairs conduct a thorough service every time - this includes more than just an oil and filter change and closing the bonnet. It is difficult to compare vehicle servicing because each vehicle service centre has a different idea about what should be done with a vehicle service. Certain Vehicle Service Centres will carry out just a few servicing procedures, while others, like De Jonge Mechanical Services, will do numerous things in order to keep your vehicle in the safest condition possible. There is no same 50,000 km service 13 every vehicle servicing company will do something different.
I've Had My Car Serviced At Other Places For Years - Why Has No One Mentioned These Issues Before?
We honestly do not know. The Vehicle Servicing Centre you were previously using may not have raised the issues because they did not feel that the issues fell under the fixed price services that you were getting. It is of considerable concern to De Jonge Mechanical Repairs that customers are bringing us regularly serviced vehicles which have dangerous and unchecked problems with poor quality workmanship. You can trust and rely on De Jonge Mechanical Repairs to list every issue that we feel needs attending to and then the choice is yours to fix it or not. It is our responsibility to tell you of your vehicle faults and it is your choice to repair them or not!!
If My Car Has A Problem, Should I Try To Duplicate It Before Bringing It In?
If possible, Yes. This may be difficult but it can save time and money. Technicians charge by the hour for time we have to spend driving and diagnosing the car. If we know the problem only happens on the highway at 100 kph, then we'll head straight to the highway for a 100 kph test drive. If we know the problem only happens when the car is cold, we won't waste hours testing a warm car. Don't worry if you can't duplicate the problem, we will do our best to find it based on the information you provide us.
I've Been Ripped Off Before, So Can I Tell You What I Want Done With My Car?
We understand that so many people have been ripped off by mechanics and they are afraid of having the same thing happen again. Telling us exactly what to do with your car won't really help the situation. Rest assured, we are friendly and qualified technicians that won't rip you off, so please be friendly to us. Unlike other mechanics that may have treated you with disrespect, De Jonge Mechanical Repairs want to keep you safe and we know that we'll earn your trust if you give us the chance.
I don't bother to get my car serviced regularly. I prefer to bring it in when something goes wrong?
The reason something does not work or is failing in your vehicle is because the vehicle has not been regularly serviced. It is definitely a false economy!! Over the years we have seen major problems with vehicles that have cost the owner hundreds and even thousands of dollars to repair which could have been avoided if they had their vehicle serviced regularly.
Is It Cheaper If I Buy My Own Parts?
We are reluctant to use customer supplied parts and also by supplying your own parts, we are unable to offer you a 12 month warranty on parts. There are no savings for most people when they buy their own parts. We do not charge over dealer list prices and delivery for the parts we sell you, so unless you have an inside connection with a dealer or parts supplier, you will not save any money by buying parts yourself.
